Quality Head / General Manager
Industry: Automotive – Commercial Vehicle / Bus Manufacturing
Role Objective
Lead the end-to-end Quality function for electric commercial vehicle manufacturing, covering Supplier, Incoming, Process, Vehicle/Final, Customer, Warranty and Quality Systems. Drive zero-defect manufacturing, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, quality improvement and reduction of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the plant Quality strategy, objectives, systems and KPIs.
- Own quality from incoming material through vehicle assembly, EOL testing, PDI and dispatch.
- Lead APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA, 8D, RCA and CAPA.
- Drive NPD quality from prototype and pilot builds through SOP and production ramp-up.
- Manage customer complaints, warranty/field failures and permanent corrective actions.
- Lead supplier quality, audits, PPAP, supplier development and PPM reduction.
- Drive process capability, Poka-Yoke, Kaizen, Six Sigma and defect-prevention initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.
- Monitor FPY, rejection, rework, scrap, EOL defects, customer complaints, warranty and COPQ.
- Lead internal, customer, certification and regulatory audits.
- Build, mentor and develop a high-performing Quality organization.
Qualification
Mandatory Full-time B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university/institute is mandatory. Diploma, part-time/distance engineering or non-Mechanical engineering candidates will not be considered.
Candidate Profile
Candidates must have strong automotive manufacturing Quality and plant-level leadership experience. Commercial Vehicle/Bus manufacturing experience is strongly preferred, with EV/electric commercial vehicle exposure being an added advantage. Strong customer, supplier, NPD, warranty and team-management experience is essential.
